Devjani Chowdhury

Devjani Chowdhury is a PhD student in Epidemiology at Michigan State University with a clinical background in medicine (MBBS) and an MPH in Public Health. Her research interests center on women’s and maternal health, environmental and climate-related health impacts, health disparities, and community-engaged research.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, she worked in public health research and teaching, with experience in qualitative and quantitative research, community-based fieldwork, project coordination, scientific writing, and working with multidisciplinary teams and diverse communities. Her research experiences have shaped her interest in understanding how environmental and social conditions influence health and how epidemiologic evidence can be connected with communities’ lived experiences.

Through her doctoral training, she hopes to develop rigorous epidemiologic skills and contribute to evidence-based interventions and policies that improve health outcomes for women and communities disproportionately affected by environmental and social challenges. Outside of academics, Devjani enjoys music, exploring new places, and spending time with her family.
