Werner Workshop

aw.gifWorkshop on adult cerebral palsy in honor of Arnold Werner

Sponsored by UCPREF and the Arnold Werner Fund, Allergan, UCP-Michigan, and Michigan State University

Very little is known about the natural history of cerebral palsy and effective treatments. On May 12, researchers from across the country who work with adults with CP discussed their work and shared ideas about adult CP.

Topics included prevention of functional declines and disability, the impact of childhood interventions on later outcomes in adulthood, and issues in research with adults. Community members with CP were invited to attend and discuss their priorities for CP research and its many associated conditions. The goal of this workshop was to help promote further studies on adult CP and encourage adults with CP to consider taking part in research studies.

The workshop was held Monday, May 12, from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the MSU Kellogg Center in East Lansing. It was supported by UCP Research and Educational Foudation and the Arnold Werner Fund, Allergan, UCP-Michigan, and several MSU College of Human Medicine department, including Epidemiology, Neurology, Psychiatry and the Dean's Office.
