Welcome Dr Qiu

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Hongxiang (“David”) Qiu will be joining our department faculty as an assistant professor effective August 1st.
Dr. Qiu’s research focuses on statistical inference under nonparametric or semiparametric models with applications in causal inference and machine learning in epidemiology, healthcare utilization, and biomedical domains. His research has the potential to move the field of precision medicine from the prediction paradigm to inference and improve individualized treatment decision rules. He is joining us following a postdoctoral fellowship at the Wharton School in the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in biostatistics from the University of Washington.
Dr. Qiu looks forward to collaborating with our faculty and students and sharing his expertise. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Qiu to our department.
