The department is excited to share the news that Mr. Brent Strong, an undergraduate student in Physiology who is also studying for the department’s minor in Global Public Health and Epidemiology, has been nominated by the university for 3 prestigious scholarships: the Churchill, Rhodes, and Marshall. Brent is the only student in this year’s nomination list of 10 students to be nominated for all 3 awards! Brent has been conducting research with Dr. Mat Reeves since his arrival on campus in 2016.

As a freshman Brent was awarded a Professorial Research Assistantship by the university which is a scholarship given to only the very top incoming students and provides funds for them to work with any research faculty member of their choice. Dr. Reeves commented: “It has been a great pleasure to supervise Brent over these past 4 years. He has made extraordinary strides as a student and researcher and we are delighted that his hard work and unlimited potential has been recognized by the university through these nominations”.
