Hometown:

I’m from India, and I moved around a lot as a child (so I’ve been raised by many diverse states!), but my family and I are essentially from a southern city named Hyderabad!

Favorite Movie/Musical Singer or Group:

I usually prefer musicals to movies, beginning with The Sound of Music. I cannot choose a favourite movie, but the best one I’ve seen recently is a movie based on a real life incident, named The Goat Life. These are a few of my favourite things!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love practicing my singing or guitar playing, and love a good book or movie (book>>movie).

What inspired your interest in pursuing your degree?

I grew to love maths and biology during my school years, and wanted to study something related to the two!

What has been one of your best experiences within graduate school so far?

I like all COGS events, and try to attend as many of them as possible! Within the department, I look forward to chats with my advisor… they really visualize the direction I can grow in, both individually and with regards to my career.

What are some of the best things about being an MSU/Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics student?

I appreciate the MSU campus and its inclusivity. The best thing about our department, in my opinion, is that everyone looks out for the other…whether it is related to academics, or just a friendly chat!
