I am currently a Biostatistician in the Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI. PHS is a research department that conducts and promotes population and clinical research studies. My primary work responsibility includes statistical consulting, performing analyses, as well as developing and maintaining a scalable clinical informatics data infrastructure to support population-based research. Working at Henry Ford has given me the opportunity to process real-world medical data and work with interdisciplinary investigators ranging from basic science researchers to medical doctors.
The training from MSU has enabled me to obtain the necessary skills of integrating epidemiological knowledge with statistical approaches to prepare me for my career. The department has offered courses that cover both aspects of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, such as Design of Epidemiological Studies and Clinical Trials, Statistical Computing, and Biostatistical Modeling in Genomic Data Analysis. Another valuable asset of MSU is the faculty's willingness to provide mentorship and research opportunities. Through working with my thesis advisor, I gained experience with the analysis of multiple types of genetic and molecular data, which is a critical skill for my career path.
