CPON Team Members

Nigel Paneth, MD, MPH, is the Director of CPON, and a faculty member in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Michigan State University. Dr. Paneth is a pediatrician and perinatal and child health epidemiologist with a particular interest in the causes and prevention of childhood neurodevelopmental handicap, especially cerebral palsy.

Madeleine Lenski, MSPH in epidemiology, is CPON's Project Coordinator. She has been project manager for several research studies in the Department of Epidemiology involving infants and children born at low birthweight and gestational age. She is responsible for communicating with members and health care providers, and working with the project team on outreach and planning.

Mary Jo Cooley Hidecker, Ph.D., CCC-A/SLP is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) and in the Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program (RHB-DP) in the College of Health Sciences. With training as a speech-language pathologist, audiologist, and epidemiologist, her clinical experience in assisting children and adults with complex communication disorders led her into clinical research. Dr. Hidecker received her Ph.D. in Audiology and Speech Sciences with an emphasis in family science from Michigan State University, Lansing. She was a NIH F31 predoctoral fellow. She held a NIH F32 Postdoctoral fellowship in communication disorders epidemiology, resulting in a master’s degree in epidemiology.

Steven J. Korzeniewski, PhD, Associate Professor,  School of Medicine Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences, Wayne State University. In his early career Dr. Korzeniewski led Michigan’s Maternal & Child Health Epidemiology Section and later the Department of Applied Epidemiology at a healthcare quality improvement organization. In 2011 he was appointed to the faculty of WSUSOM’s obstetrics department where he served as Director of the Perinatal Epidemiology Unit. In 2019 Dr. Korzeniewski joined the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences. He currently leads the epidemiology section of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Research Design (BERD) core out of the Integrative Biosciences Center. His research focuses on hypertension and its sequelae across the lifespan including pregnancy complications, neurodevelopmental disorders and adult cardiovascular disease.
